More work done today. I am done for the day.

The Spitfire is ready:). Amazing what a little hot glue, Popsicle sticks, tape and an iron will do. Not pretty, (battle scars), but I believe she will fly again.

Take 2 - 06.jpg

And look at this. I just need to install the receiver and set it up.

Take 2 - 07.jpg

I also need to check the CG on all of them and double check the transmitter settings (Make sure up goes up):ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

This could be the first time I have 3 planes ready to fly. We will see tomorrow.

Got some work in today. I got my Tiny Trainer ready to go. She is looking worn out but is still flyable. I use her to warm up 1st and then towards the end if my other planes are not flyable. She takes a beating but keeps going on and on. I am painting the Simple cub and then get the ready to fly.

I am taking a second look at this

There is a lot broken and smashed, but I think I will resurrect her. The wing is still good, I just need to repair the nose and glue and reinforce a couple of breaks in the fuselage. Then she might fly again.

I plan on trying to get out to the field tomorrow morning at least with the TT and maybe the Simple Cub if I can get her finished. I think the Spitfire might take me a little longer to fix her.
Good to see you coming back to sharing good luck with the Spitfire repairs I can tell you that she should fly if you keep the repairs light at mine does and she’s had a few repairs.

Looking great buddy. Good luck with the maidens :).

At the field and the planes are ready

Take 2 - 08.jpg

1st up the TT for a warmup and shake off the cobwebs.

It flew good. Loops, rolls and what ever you call what I did.:ROFLMAO: Tried inverted , it was good that the field was recently plowed, it made for a soft landing, sort of. The second flight was short, the ground got a little to close. Everything looked good, but when I checked my CRAP I noticed a bad servo. She is done for the day but it will be an easy fix.

2nd up - Here is the 1st flight of the Spitefire, was flying real good till the battery died.

Here is the 2nd flight of the spitfire

3rd up - The Maiden of the Simple Cub. First try taking off with landing gear, second try, third try, fourth try,o_O Oh the heck with it - Hand Launch it is.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Over all it was a good day. It was beautiful and clear with next to now breeze most of the time. Only repair is a bad servo of the TT:D:D:D
Also busted a couple of props on the Cub.

The spit looks like its still has some ghost left in it. The Cub flies like it should, sure likes to ground loop though. Do you have any right thrust angle in it? Has some serious torque roll. Maybe a smaller prop might help too, looks like you have a 10" on there, a 9x4 or even an 8x5 might be enough

No thrust angle and the prop is the recommended 8 x 4 1/2. I need to learn to use the rudder better when on the ground, the ailerons don't work:LOL:

You made me just think of something. I think there is a way to stiffen up the resistance on the sticks of the Tx. I wonder if there is a way to stiffen up the throttle control but not the rudder on the left stick. That way when I play with the rudder I am less likely to change the throttle position. That's a problem I have been having and probably why my left thumb is to shy to play with the rudder

Great flying, @Jimun! It looks like you had a great flying day to get back into the swing of things. If I do half as well when I'm able to get back out, I'll be happy! Granted, I've got four planes yet to maiden, but I've got to say that the Spit is still my favorite plane to fly, so far. It looks a lot like yours, minus the paint. ;) Still going strong, though.

I'm not sure what's going on with your Cub. Honestly, ground take-offs just aren't that difficult. It may not be the proper way to do it, but you could try just gunning the throttle and lifting immediately. I've had a couple planes where that's what seems to work. As soon as it's airborne, you've got to compensate for the roll, but that's pretty easy. It's not too long before you start to prefer a ground take-off to a hand launch.

:unsure:I think I figured out the problem on the Simple Cub trying to take off. I was thinking:unsure: that it seemed like it was under powered. One thing I did not do was sync the throttle up. So I just did that and charged up a battery and just tried to taxi straight on my driveway and it was totally different then yesterday. It now will go straight when I throttle up to about 1/2 to 3/4's. Yesterday I could not get it to go straight even at full throttle. It just ground looped every time. So next week I will give it another try. I was going to try it on the street but it is a little to windy. I was not going to fly around:cautious:, I was just going to try taking off and landing right away just to see if it worked. If being able to taxi straight now is an indicator, I think I fixed it.:D

Not quite sure what you mean by syncing the motor up?

These light foamies are hard to taxi at the best of time especially with a little wind and then if it is just a tail dragger makes it worse. Give your wheels a slight toe in which helps some , better then just straight forward. Even just roll it on the floor and see if it tracks straight.

This is me. Make sure you are facing dead into the wind, 3/4 throttle if not more and go, again especially if there is a wind even if it is slight. Depending on the stall factor for each plane you may even give it slight down elevator to keep it on the ground until you get some speed up before you let it up. I have dumped many planes by trying to lift off to quick and it stalls and rolls into the ground. I have done many dumps like yours trying to take the cautious slow smooth take off, basically you look like a really bad drunk driver :D .

On syncing the throttle - on the tx to the esc, to get the right throttle input for the motor. You disconnect the battery, turn on the tx, throttle all the way up and connect the battery. Then you here a couple of beeps and then throttle down and you here some more beeps and now it should be set right. The motor will not engage until you throttle down and here the beeps. @Wildthing you probably know this already, I just shared it for those that might not know this yet.

Great flying with all three planes. Not much to say about your flying with the TT you've got that mastered. About the Spitfire how does she handle in your prospective? It is by far one of my favortive planes at the moment. As for the cub don't use ailerons on take off only rudder otherwise you'll tip stall, keep the run straight and long increasing throttle untill you gentely lift off the ground. You should also check the wheels are not binding any where :).

The Spitfire is fun to fly. It was the first time to. I was a little tail heavy the on its maiden and I think my control surfaces did not have enough movement. What I remember the first time it still handle good and looked great in the air. This time after rebuilding I reset the control surfaces, I think I got it right this time. I also added an ounce of nose wait to get the CG right (+ the extra weight of Popsicle sticks, glue and tape). I could tell flying it that the weight made a difference. I just can put my finger on it. Last time I could not get it to roll right, this time it looked a lot better. I like the way she just wants to stay in the air. She is also easy to land when I still have power:LOL:, not like my first flight when the battery died in the air.
