congrats, very stable indeed. nice build.. how much do you think it cost? 600.00 ?
yeah, once you go above a 250 size.. i think a 8 channel would be the minum.. heck i already wish i had a another channel on my 6dx. i do plan getting a new radio for christmas. but i do like the idiot proof of the dx6i.

It was a bit more than $600... but less than a grand. You could conceivably make this work with a 6i, but you really want a couple 3 way switches an the extra channels to utilize the FC to it's fullest. I went with a DX8, and I find it easier to use than the 6i.

Well, after much tinkering, I finally got rid of the jello in the gimbal. All it took was a lot of swearing, and a combination of vibration dampening balls, soft in the rear and medium in the front.

The video is bouncy because the hex was getting tossed around by it's own prop wash. I was flying in an area that's boxed in by the garage and the deck.

thanks for price.. something i think ill build next year as i want a AP machine.. that looks very nice.. i would be happy with that, and my mind is already going nuts on what kind of shots i would try to get flying around a cactus etc.. i think you will get a lot of enjoyment out of your new AP machine. what camera are you using? its pretty impresive to think you can keep it in such a small space considering how big it.

i guess the FC helped?

chris.

Right now I'm using a Mobius action cam. I'm considering a Gopro in the future.

As far as controlling the bird, ironically in the conditions of my back yard I would likely have better luck keeping it stable in manual mode than letting the FC do its job. Turbulance like that tends to confuse the "auto level" features and makes it overcorrect. That's the bobbing back and forth you're seeing.
