Tattu 1800mAh swelling

I bought the tattu 3cell, 11.1V, 1800mah battery and smart charger from flitetest. I set the charger to 1.8a, 11.1 V, 3 cell. I’ve charged it 3 times and this last time the battery swelled up like it was going to blow. Is 1.8a too much or is this just a defective battery?

Oooohhh.....I wouldn't keep that better...For some reason I have not had good luck with Tattu (Though the Tattu R-lines seem better than just the standard Tattu's so I would be comfortable getting another one of those (y)) or Ovonics though other seem to like them....I have found that Turnigy's work pretty good and CNHL's are great so far!

Might want to back down on the charge rate, by a lot. Should take a couple hours or so, and not get fingertip warm. Rapid charging doesn't allow the oxides to disperse, hence the puff. Yes you can rapid charge at the field if you only have one pack, but warm and fluffy isn't all that great for longevity. The KFM-3 plane battery is 6 years old and I have others older.

Charging at 1 x capacity is not rapid charging. A LiPo battery that can't be charged at 1C without swelling is defective.

OR your charger is defective and over charged the battery. What is the voltage of each cell of the battery?

Also you should NOT be using the "charge" program. You should be using "Balance Charge" program so that the charger is looking at the voltage of each cell in the battery.

You can actually charge them at 2x the mah or some manufactures say 3x...I mostly do 1x or less but once in a while do 2x.
