So, I promised eartsciteach that I would put together some info to help him be somewhat more successful in his set up and first flights of his new multi rotor.

All other readers. Feel free to add your suggestions to the thread, they might just get added back here to the main post.

Patrick, FOLLOW THE ADVICE IN THE VIDEOS STEP BY STEP. No shortcuts.

On the KK2 board, the ground is always to the outside of the board.

These videos were great!

mmerry2 did an excellent job in his "5" part series (there's actually 6 parts) here...

eluminerRC has done a nice job putting together a list of videos for the KK2 board here...

Things that WILL GO WRONG.

You will flip it, unintentionally several times.

You'll have the motors plugged in the wrong spots on the board.

You put on the wrong rotation prop.

You plugged in the esc to the wrong port.

You didn't set the gyros/ACC up right.

You didn't reverse the right switches in the transmitter.

Things to remember during flight.

Orientation. This will make you crash quickly. Unlike an
airplane, it doesn't have to be moving forward to fly. So not only can you get confused with the roll axis, but the pitch and yaw can get you too.

Don't fight the auto level. If you find yourself really having to work against it to fly the way you want, adjust the settings as described in the advanced KK2 set up videos.

Practice switching the auto level on, so that if you need it to save yourself from crashing, you can do it automatically.

Cool :) My KK2 is in now.

I initially thought my screen had been mistreated a lot but it has a plastic cover which I'll keep on it for protection. Can't wait to go home and try it out.

Did you do the calibration? It helps to have two hands but you can be quick and plug the battery in and get your two fingers onto the first and last buttons. And don't forget to have your throttle all the way up

Ken,

Do the ESC calibration if you haven't, but . . . Have you run through the receiver test and transmitter setup first?

Before you start the ESC cal on the kk2, you at least need to make sure your transmitter throw is the right direction (down is idle and up is full) -- the receiver test menu will show that, and the transmiter should be able to "reverse" the servo direction for throttle. While you're doing that, however, it's probably best to check all the stick directions and set the centers to 0 and the throws as close to 100 as possible.

BTW, if your 4x ESC is like mine, the channels are scrabled. The plug wilth power (which *must* go in M1 on the kk2), is connected to the plugs labled M3 on the ESC. On mine it's all clearly labled . . . but clearly scrambled as is. you'll either need to track the flow through the maze, or swap the pin between the powered ESC plug and the signal line for the ESC's M1. Then you can mount them in a consistant order M1-M4.

Thank you eluminerRC Brand new to forum

I just wanted to thank eluminerRC for all of us newbies, for the huge amount of simple useful information on the setup up of KK2 board and TX input. I do not think it can get much better.

Thank you again and seasons greetings

HA!!! I forgot about this thread. BTW, it didn't work. LOLOOL!!!!!

I'm currently off the multirotor habit. Fixed wing is SO much more pleasant!
