The inevitable has happened. I got my tiny trainer stuck at least 30ft up in a tree. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get it down?

I have a 8m telescopic carbon fibre "roach" pole I bought for exactly that purpose.
If well embedded in a tree it may need a hook fixing on the end so you can lift it clear of the branched but you have to expect the process can be quite brutal so expect some damage particularly if it ends up falling from 30ft!

My friends and I had this problem about a year ago and tied a rock to a rope to make a poor man's throw line, threw it over the plane, and pulled/wiggled it until it got dislodged. This happened twice to two different planes and this strategy worked both times, although in both cases the planes weren't stuck super deep in the tree.

I've been thinking about getting a legit throw line for stuff like this though, because the rocks we chose kept coming loose

GO out to the local Big Box Hardware store. Get 3 METAL 10 foot pieces of conduit and about 8 hose clamps. Overlap the conduit about 1-2 feet and attach hose clamps at each end of the overlap ends. Using care you can raise this into the air and pull the plane down. Carbon Fiber is stronger and lighter.

Glad to hear you got it down.

I tried that this time with sand in a pill bottle

You do realize that periodically a pilot needs to provide a sacrificial offering to the Norse tree gods? Otherwise they grab whatever is flying by and chew on it for a while. On the other hand, staying several tree heights away from trees prevents them from grabbing your plane.

Sorry I was not up for performing the sacrifice ritual and I must have angered them. A sacrifice shall be ready next time.

Have done the same thing only used a fishing pole and a piece of 3/4 inch wood cut to look like a plumb bob instead more accurate for me anyway,.
