The Maiden flight of the TubeWing

The TubeWing is my own design based off the FT Delta and using a cardboard tube for a fuselage. Read about it here:

Here's the maiden flights video.

Keep in mind I am an extremely inexperienced flyer and have no experience with flying wing designs but I think with a little tweaking to my control setup this will be a good flyer.....

There was a 4th flight that lasted a few minutes with several long "controlled" loops and a gentle landing.....into a tree (with no damage). The plane is shockingly durable BTW.

More to come in the future.

that's pretty cool. Now somebody needs to make a pringles can edf version.
I know with my versa wing i was totally surprised by how little movement you need on the control surfaces. I think i had my rates down in the 20's for smooth flight.

I thought about EDF at first, but I went with swappable so I diddnt need any more electronics.

At the 4th and most successful flight (no video), I wound up in the 40s on my ailerons and at 70 on my elevator with expos at 40 all around. I also have my linkage stoppers on the 4th hole in on the servo arm so there isnt much travel to begin with. I still had a little trouble pulling up from a dive, but it was overall a lot more managable. I actually wonder if my control surfaces dont extend far enough back. They are the width of the wing but only about 2.25" at the widest part close to the body.

We had a hard time finding a good CG for this model but we had it at about 5' back from the front tip of the wings. It would glide decent when tossed so we figured it was alright. I know the CG is tricky on flying wing designs though. Thanks for the reply.
