How about a video from the old timers.I enjoy sitting at the field with the 60+ plus crowd picking there brains about how it was done before CA and hot glue.
Like making your own glue.wow.
It should be documented before these guys are all gone.

Old time balsa glue is easy - just solve some foam with acetone.
Thick works as glue and more acetone makes for thinner for coating on silk and tissue.
