So 1st let me say I have always been impressed at how flite test stresses the family and community aspects of the hobby. that being said this post is asking for help from some one that knows just enough to be dangerous :p

So right too the nuts and bolts of this post. A very good friend of mine, has a very speacil boy in his life that is very young, yet has gone thru 2 bone marrow transplants, tons of chemo and has spent more time in the hospital in the last 2 years, then any one should have to go thru in 100 life times. long story short, another community( and forums) got together and bought him an RC truck(traxxas stamped) you can read about it here http://www.riverdavesplace.com/forums/showthread.php?125328-Sometimes-I-wonder-UPDATE-DAWSON-is-Home! the rc stuff/ community coming together starts on page 15.

I am buying a bunch of spare parts, a tool kit and a good battery charger since at last count he has about 14 batterys coming his way. It needs to handle NiCad and lipo. preferably, with auto detect. remember I know just enough to be dangerous and don't really know what brands are good and which ones to avoid. which is why I ask here.

Thanks in advanced for your help

PS, here is a short clip of him opening the truck.

Wow, no words. Thoughts and prayers out to all of you.

Heres a cheap option:
https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-SKYR...TF8&qid=1495936904&sr=8-8&keywords=rc+charger

You'll also need this:
https://www.amazon.com/Traxxas-2946...495937002&sr=8-1&keywords=traxxas+charge+lead

But this is what I have and I love it. It charges two :
https://www.amazon.com/Venom-RC-Bat...UTF8&qid=1495937048&sr=8-1&keywords=venom+duo

You'll need two of these too:
https://www.amazon.com/Traxxas-2946...495937002&sr=8-1&keywords=traxxas+charge+lead

I have this one. Its cheaper, does different chemistry's, charge rate etc. The only bad thing about it is that it can only charge one at a time, howver it does a 1000mph in about 15 minuets, so he could probably run continuously.

I took me a long time to process this. I didn’t even know him, but he seemed like a sweet nice boy. Thoughts and prayers to you, him and family. I can’t imagine how hard it must be.

Wake up! Time to fly!
Awe man. I was just watching the videos and got to the second one and saw how much joy he got from that truck. I scroll down one more post and I see he has passed on. To go from seeing that to reading the next post was just one massive gut punch. I can not imagine how his family feels. All my thoughts are with them for a quick bereavement process so they can start to go back to good memories like that last video.

I know and hope our community will be sending as much love and good thoughts for his family as possible and that Dawson will be smiling down on you all for doing so.

I lost a granddaughter 2 years ago. Though I am fine talking about it now, my heart was wrenched for losing her and also knowing the pain my daughter and her husband were going through.

Thank you for sharing this personal detail and giving us the opportunity to grieve with you. Certainly we do grieve with you, many who know too well the grief.

If I may I would like to encourage you in something. Though death is one of the most unpleasant aspects of life and inevitable for us all, Dawson was fortunate to have loving people around him and we were fortunate to have his story brought to us by you. Thank you for your concern for him, for getting involved, for reaching out to the community, and even the sad news that reminds us that we need to make good use of our time.

Also thank you for the video post so we can match a face with the name.

I do not want to rush anyone past their time of grieving but rather offer a little hope for relief.

My prayer is that God will give comfort and peace to all those grieving.

Wow, I am so sorry, both Jim and the family of Dawson. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I had a sibling miscarriage, and I never actually new him/her, but it still hit me pretty hard. At least we know they are all in a better place.
