Those Who Prefer Glow Engines Over Electric Or Gas

I am one who prefers glow engines over electric or gas. I've been in the hobby for many years, I started out with glow. I like the simplicity of a 2 stroke engine. I like the sounds. My 2 stroke engines will outlive me. I have an electric, only, for flying indoors throughout the winter months .

To each their own, but for me glow until the day , I can no longer fly.

I used to be into sailplanes only, I mean anyone can fly if you have a motor to rely on. Then I let my horizons expand and realized my prejudices were unfounded.

There is a time and place for all power sources, luv the smell of glow, luv the low cost of gas, luv electric as it can be flown in smaller areas.

I prefer the smell of burning laquer on my coil windings.... If you haven't smelled electric, you are not pushing hard enough.... LOL!

Cheers!

I've been there a little too much 😂

If I can remember next time I'm at the field I'm gonna ask around for a non working glow engine to convert to electric just to irritate people. Maybe I'll even put a noisemaker in it.

You`ll need more then just an engine LOL or did you mean the whole plane? Why would it irritate people? Many newer kits give both options.

The engine itself. I'm sure it's been done, but it'll be fun to see the reactions when I pull out a glow plane and it's actually electric.

Plastic tank. Definitely not a Cox .020 which if I remember correctly hardly ever came without a metal tank as it was Just a mini version of the babe bee .049 and everything was half sized and very easy to loose in the shag rugs of the time
