Thrust to whieht ratio

I am designing an 40mm edf rc jet to be 3d printing I'm using a edf that has 500 grams of thrust what thrust to weight ratio would be best for it

It depends partly on the size of the wings in the jet. If you’re doing something with tiny wings like an F-104, you’ll need more to comfortably launch it. Maybe 1.5:1 or higher. If it’s something with more wing area like an F-22, you could get away with a little less, like 1:1. Launching printed jets is the trickiest part because they tend to be heavy so they need to be launched pretty fast. Having extra trust helps a lot.

For a rocket aircraft, the flight weight should be 200-300 grams with a thrust of 500 grams.
