Trying out the ez id... pulled another pad off with the battery on it trying to get it out of an airplane, hopefully it doesn't need that.

Well, it's doing something...

FPV goggles (Emax transporter 2) arrived and the osd is working! I do need to remember to not leave the vtx plugged in when I am just testing because I melted the hot glue holding it in place. Going to try out a small aio on an ez pack plane first, if the wind cooperates. Then I will use the fpv from ardupilot. Should be interesting.

Supposedly mine has a pit mode, but the manual doesn't say anything about turning it on and I can't find anything about it. What does that fan look like?

I think my vtx defaults to full power, so that probably wasn't helping. I think I have a fan from upgrading my 3d printer that would probably work for that. I did get a few very succesful flights on that EZ pack plane with the aio camera on it and I should be able to fly the mini explorer with ardupilot soon. I did test ardupilot's video system, and everything worked!

Haven't been able to get much flying in, but I have been getting more comfortable with FPV in a little EZ pack flying wing thing that I built. Everything is working well, although I am surprised how quickly the signal drops off when I fly away from myself. I am thinking of getting or making a patch antenna or a low gain helical since the Transporter 2 goggles have a diversity receiver.

Also did the most essential goggle mod ever! :)

Does anyone have experience with ibus telemetry and Ardupilot? I am using my fsi6x with openi6x firmware on it with an ia6b receiver. I think I have Ardupilot configured correctly, so I think it is how I am hooking it up or a setting in the TX. I set SERIAL5_PROTOCOL to i-bus Telemetry and connected the ibus sens port on the ia6b to tx5 on the FC. On the TX I have it set to ibus and pwm output, but when I go to discover new sensors nothing shows up.

Did you check the documentation?

It may not be in the firmware by default.... See the blue box that reads as below:

Note

Support for this peripheral is included on all boards with more than 2MB flash memory. It is also available for other boards using the Custom Firmware Build Server , by creating a firmware build including this feature listed under the Telemetry category.

I have experimented with ibus telem, but I haven't been able to to get it to work. I went back to the normal firmware because I was having issues with my EZ ID as a gps, but I tried it again today after resetting everything and then it wouldn't even power on. After further testing, I think that I burnt out another GPS. I did get in some amazing FPV flights with the little EZ pack plane (and I think I set an altitude record too for those planes) and I tried to make it work without a gps, but there is always the ekf3 error whenever I try to arm. I am not sure what else I can change, because I have looked at almost every possible parameter that seems relevant, but I can't find anything. Does anyone know what these parameters could be?

If this isn't an option, is there another firmware that I could test the FPV system and have fun with that isn't so reliant on a GPS?

So far, I have disabled EKF3, disabled GPS, and it is still giving me the AHRS: EKF3 not started error when I try to arm.

EHRS errors are fun to diagnose... Usually GPS related.

Disable the GPS check bit in ARMING_CHECKS

Here is a starting point for documentation:

I would try to figure out what is wrong with the GPS. I have only nuked one over the years, and that was due to reversed polarity. I have had to use the u-Blox utilities to correct settings, but not usually with ArduPilot.

Thank you! I have looked at that documentation and many others, but I still can't figure out what it is. My goal right now is to fly it tomorrow in stabilized mode so I can fly FPV. I did disable all gps related arming checks, but it needs the INS check disabled and I was trying to avoid that just in case there is a problem with the accelerometers. The problem with the EZ ID is that it won't even turn on. I don't know what happened but I have tried resoldering the connector and some other things a bunch of times but it doesn't work.

I had my EZID in my Surfer 2000 when I exploded that plane. Was an oops on my part. Had the elevator direction backwards in the radio and FC. Worked great in manual mode, but as soon as I put it in stabilized, it went straight up, then straight down. Made the loudest pop ever when it hit the ground. Was running Ardupilot on a f405-wing. Ripped my serial wires off, but it still works fine.

Actually it was an F765-wing

You can scroll up in that thread and see mor of my testing details including the notchiness of the EZID coordinates
