Tricopter yaw servo not working

Hi everyone. Just got my tricopter together tonight and wanted to test yaw and prop movement before I ziptie everything.
I'm running a kk2.1.5 board with 20a afro escs to dt750s
Binded dx6i to ar6200.
I did a reciever test and it seems to be reacting to stick movement from the Tx but nothing is moving.
Am I forgetting a step? Kk board says safe does that mean I need to arm it?

Any help will be appreciated.

That video is very helpful in set up but still hasn't helped in getting the servo to move. Seems like the servo isn't getting any power at all.

You have to provide power to the servo.
If you connect the KK2 to power, the reciever gets power and vice versa. If you have a tail servo, it needs power aswell. So either at least one of your ESCs on Ports M2 or M3 has a BEC, or you have to connect your external BEC to M2-M8.
It is a bit complicated: When one of the inputs of the KK2 board gets power, it powers the KK2 and the reciever (you can connect power to the reciever aswell and the KK2 will get it. Motor M1 is connected to this circuit aswell, so if you have a ESC with BEC there, KK2 + reciever will get powered.
M2-M8 on the other hand are NOT connected to this circuit however. So if you have your Servo on M2-M8, you will have to connect power to one of the free Motor Outputs aswell.

Everything 1387 said is true. If you've done that, it also could be this. The servo won't move on just a left or right yaw input (frustrating, I know). Take the props off, run the throttle up a little, and give left input on the yaw while throttle is up. Then your servo should tilt your tail. If not, something is hooked up wrong somewhere leading to the servo. I had this problem too when I first armed my board.

I'm familiar that m1 esc powers the kk2 board and m2-m8 are on their on bus. I've been researching other threads and see that people are running their servos with the bec that's on the afro esc. I disconnected the red wires from the escs on port m2 and m3 thinking the becs were fighting for power. Still not working. I wish I had another servo to test if this one is busted.

You can plug it into your reciever directly and try it out with your transmitter.
This way you would get the flight control board and the wiring mostly out of the equation. A servo tester is an even better option, because this removes everything except the physical servo out of the equation.
You can try with the servo plugged into the reciever directly, though, if you haven't already.

Additional question: Are you sure you have ESCs with BEC. If you've got the Afro 20A Slim ESCs like me, they don't have a BEC. Your board is working though, so nevermind...

And: I second the idea of Ace2317: The servo isn't moving with standard settings when the motors aren't moving. So to test the servo, you have to power up the motors a little (without props on pls...).

Sorry for doubling things, but it's easy to miss something and we all want you to get into the air as quick as possible. :)

Yes definitely sure I have the 20a Afros standard size. Ordered them from hobby king here:

I tried plugging the yaw mechanism servo wire into the reciever in the rudder port. Is this correct? Should I rebind after that? Kk board than states there's no yaw signal or something. I'll try again. I'm worried I'm gonna fry the servo though.

You need the power connected to M2 to power the servo attached to M4.

When you plug your Servo wire into rudder port of the reciever, you should just provide pover to the reciever and test with the rudder stick of your transmitter if the servo is working. Ignore the Flight controller for that part. If the servo is in working order, you have to search the problem elsewhere.
You shouldn't need to rebind after plugging something new into the reciever.
When you plug the servo into the reciever and the fligh controller out of it, it is clear that the flight controller gets no signal input. Whats not normal is, that you unplugged the rudder port and the flight controller says you unplugged yaw. You may want to look again, if your connections are right. The KK board may have another order of channels than your reciever.
As long as you only provide 5V to flightcontroller and reciever, you shouldn't be risking to fry anything.

And: You can't unplug the power wires from the BECs of the ESCs of both M2 and M3. At most one of them, because at least one of them needs to provide power to M4 (your servo) as M1 isn't powering it like I explained earlier. You shouldn't need to unplug anything of that to get it working though.

I'm confused on how you're connecting the servo to the reciever and the board. Unless I'm misunderstanding you. If I plug the servo to the rudder port and nothing from reciever to the rudder input on the board I still get no response. Is my servo toast?

For proper setup, the lead from the servo should be connected to M4. You should have a separate connector running from the rudder channel on your receiver to the rudder feed on your board.

What 1387 is saying is that you can test your servo by giving power to a receiver and plugging the servo directly into the rudder port to see if it responds to stick movement.

Did that help or did I make it worse?

This may make it easier to see. The wires on the left are running straight to the receiver. The wires on the right are the leads from the Escs and servo.
