Tricopter (Kit) Build Assistance

Hey guys,

I recently found a new tricopter kit on ebay and was planning on building it. However I wanted your advice on what motor and esc I should use as I'm building this for fpv and long flights (appx. 25-30mins).

The kit does give a list of electronics but for some reason I felt it might have been a bit too much and wanted to get your thoughts on it before I made the purchase.

I am a newbie when it comes to multirotors so any advice on what I should use/do is more than welcome!

This is the link to the kit.

Additional questions:

1) Whats special about simonk flashing? And how do I do it?

Quite frankly I would avoid that listing like the plague. It doesn't appear to have one absolutely required component of a tri-copter, a yaw assembly that should be on the back arm and is what controls the yaw of the copter. You can do without the assembly on a Y-6 but not on a 3 motor multi. Also I think 25 to 30 min is a very unreasonable stretch of the time nearly ANY multi can remain aloft. Most would be around 8 to 10 min with 15 min as a VERY long flight. You can get longer flight times with more batteries but that increases the weight and the expense of the components to lift the additional weight. If it were me I would wait for the tri-copter that the owner of this forum (Chad) will be releasing in a short (I hope) while. See the "Ask Chad" thread for teaser images (Post #593 of this thread: http://forum.flitetest.com/showthread.php?331-Ask-Chad/page60&highlight=chad ). Alternately I would suggest that you get your feet wet with the latest (or an earlier) build from RC Explorer http://rcexplorer.se/projects/2013/01/the-tricopter-v2-6hv-delux/ .

I did notice that there was no yaw mechanism, hence why i decided to get some senior advice. I guess 25-30 min is kinda of pushing my luck but no harm in asking right? :) I did know about Chad's tricopter, but haven't heard about it for a while and completely forgot about it! Guess I can wait a little longer for it. Thanks for your advice!

Check out the RCExplorer link I added to my 1st post. I don't mean to sound harsh but I hate to see a newby taken by a bad kit like the e-bay one ;)
