Trying to set brake on ESC with transmitter

With the Flitetest 20a esc can it be set with a transmitter? I did try but it does not seem to give normal beeps for settings per a manual. Wanted to set brake function. I purchased from flitetest and would like to be able to use it on my project. Any help would be appreciated.

I ordered another brand esc that does work with transmitter.
What do you mean by "setting" the esc. And "brake"? Do you mean throttle cut?

You should be able to get the ESC into programing mode , and you can only make one change at a time and have to start from the beginning again. The beeps on many ESC`s are darn tricky to get it set to what you want. I have one 6S ESC to program that thing like to set the brake is half a day waiting for the correct sequence of beeps to come up.

The FT 20A ESC that I got appears to be a rebranded EMAX ESC that is running an older release of BLHeli (the original, not BLHeli_S or BLHeli_32). I think this is the stock BLHeli manual : https://www.tme.eu/Document/565a6d126189bb1b31b17819c38dcc5c/Bullet firmware instruction.pdf

One of the two should apply to the FT branded ESC.

I think you can also set the programming parameters using BLHeliSuite and a USB programming interface. I've got one based on an Arduino Nano that can read the programming parameters no problem...I haven't tried making any changes yet though.
