Tutor throttle issues

I just built my flitetest tutor. This is my first plane. I'm not sure what I've done wrong. I'm using a radio Master tx16s MK2 transmitter with the radiomaster r88 receiver. It seems to be receiving signals properly and the transmitter is showing the proper gradient as I move the throttle. However, plane motor seems to have three stages of throttle. When I hit 34%, it drops back down to low throttle and starts again moving up in speed till it hits 66%. Then it goes back down and starts back up again. Does anybody have any recommendations on where to look so I can correct this problem?

It sounds like the ESC is not calibrated, so simple things first.
To calibrate the ESC:
  1. Remove your prop
  2. turn the Xmitter on
  3. bring the left stick to full throttle
  4. plug the battery into the ESC
  5. wait for the beep
  6. lower the left stick to minimum throttle
  7. wait for the beeps
Done

Give that a try and get back with us.

Thank you so much! I've been looking around and was probably using the wrong terms on my searches. Your instructions corrected the issue. Now all of the controls are working properly.
Thank you again!

Think nothing of it. This fix is near and dear to my heart - it was my first rc problem too

They probably sold you a faulty battery. Flitetest tutor is small airplane. Did they give you the recommended battery to buy LIPO? It should go from 0 to 100 % on full throttle. Why don’t you get a refund and exchange it? If you bought the correct battery. The reason being it may be a wrong battery is because the battery uses KV. Tiny pieces of volts. And it accelerates to exponential. 100 % being the correct C batteries to buy. Correct voltage or watt factor to buy. That may have been the wrong battery that you bought. Different limits to the battery on the weight of the airplane. If you need assistance on choice of battery, go on google AI chat bots, and tell your story. They’ll be more than happy to give you the correct battery for the correct specs.

It appears to me there’s lots of engineers on the forum. I chose computers but picked up electronics also way back in high school. I never thought I’d go into RC model Airplane but it looks like I got another hobby.

The issue has been corrected. See Post #2 & #3.
It needed calibration. (y)
