TwitchFrames mini tricopter build

This frame is almost exactly the same size as the Blackout mini H 220. Here are a couple photos of the two frames:

aww i have a thing for bulldogs. :) i miss my boy, Mr. Grumpy! or Mr Bulldog, he would answer either one.. he was one cool pup. R.I.P pup.


so im guessing the point is they are more aggressive? wider mr bulldog getting in the way while painting grr heh.JPG HPIM1256.JPG blades, by snubbing up the end. is this the correct logic behind them?

yeah, only a face a mom would love, and drool, and they always lick there nose drying it out.. and they are to strong for there own good. they are very loving dogs tho.. he was a american bulldog. :D and he was a tank. heh.

Right. From what I can tell, they are the same as the 6x4.5s with the last half inch (the tapered portion) cut off. Before HQ started producing the 5x4.5s, people were buying the 6x4.5s and cutting them down to 5 inches to get the same effect.

They're not as efficient as props with a taper, but most minis aren't going for efficiency anyway.

thats good to know. if 6s wont fit i will give them a try when i feel the need for more go power ( from the pictures of the frame built up it looks like 6s may fit.. but until i get the parts here and can see for my self im really just looking into the 8 ball i guess ). heh. ill be ok with the 5x3 for now. well im assuming they should be ok to start out with.

I have an electrical problem. When I give throttle, the naze32 reboots. My first guess is I have a bad connection or a short somewhere. Has anyone seen this before?

With the props off have you checked the receiver tab in CF to see what the Naze is seeing?

have you confirmed that the board is actually rebooting, or could it be disarming as soon as you throttle up? Dumb question but just throwing an idea out there. I'd be interested to see what shows up in cleanflight as well...

What are you using for a BEC? On my tri I'm using a Pololu 600mah regulator and I'm forced to use a little digital servo. I tried switching to a Power HD 1711 servo and it would draw too much power and the Naze would constantly reset (I couldn't even arm my tri, the power would just keep cycling).

Good point, Twitch.

I had to upgrade my Pololu when I build this copter to accommodate a 9g servo. I went with the Pololu 2831 with 1A output.

He's using the 2831 going by the build list on the first post... Hmmmm... I dunno guys I'm just using a BEC dedicated to the servo (same tgy-211 servo C0d3 is using). Would you think it would require it's own power supply? maybe another 5v regulator?

I think you'll be fine. I use one BEC for FC, rx, and servo on my big tricopter. I would think using 2 BECs is plenty. Maybe you don't want to be taking advice from me right now though. :)

Sorry man, I didn't English up that post very well... I was actually suggesting that maybe you could try a dedicated/separate voltage regulator, if you have room for it (if that even turns out to be the issue).

I guess you could disconnect the power to the servo and test with the props off to see if that's even the cause...

I'm actually quite happy with my 2 BEC set up now, but if I upgrade to KISS soon I'll definitely be following up here first to see what the resolution ends up being.

EDIT: I'm not even sure about our ideas of it being the servo... it was flying fine previously, and as far as we know you've not changed the configuration since maidening correct?
