Tx "Glove"

We might have safe ice building in some of the bays and near shore areas of L. Superior this year. It has been a few years of basically ice free conditions. In the past enjoyed Spring flying on the ice. No trees to hit:).

Issue is it can be still relatively too cool for bare hands to enjoy the session. I really dislike the "thaw pain". Back years ago I looked at and now regret not purchasing a "glove" branded by Hyperion. IIRC, less than $40 including the adjustable temp heating pads. AirWingCarrier was and still is a bit on the expensive side for a limited use piece of hardware. Doesn't seem to be much demand based on the few models found. Most seem to have a big negative. The view screen sagging down on top of the hands and fingers.

Bit cart before the horse. Purchased a model sold at various online retailers and eBay sellers. Assuming based on description that the double layered viewing area is rigid, product "not recommended to be folded or bent" that it will stay off the hands. See attached image. Anyone use this "glove"?

I've never used or owned one, but a couple of my friends had made thin plywood supports for the sides with a dowel connected between them on top just behind the window. They seemed happy with it at the time.

It looks like it should work fine provided the heating pad doesn't cause any interference.

Myself, I'm a thumb flyer, I just use a pair of cheap ordinary gloves. I will cut a slit in the thumbs and poke the sticks through the slit.

In the old days, being addicted to flying, no one sold those devices. Solved the problem by taking my son's winter jacket he outgrew and zipped it up(plastic) and sewed across the bottom of the jacket. Then sewed the neck area shut. Next, measured about 8 inches down from jacket and cut the rest of the arms off. Then sewed all around the open edges. Bought 2 pocket handwarmers.

To fly and keep the radio warm as toast, fuel up pocket warmer, open zipper and put in radio and warmer. Close plastic zipper and insert hands thru arm opening over your jacket. Now you extended your antenna(72 meg system) up thru a slit in the jacket(next to zipper) so that you were full length. When finished flight, retract antenna, off radio, rubber band the open arms until your next flight.
