For those of you that are interested in a S-UAS rating from the FAA, you'll be happy to know that all of the test questions are available in a book found here: http://www.asa2fly.com/Test-Prep-Remote-Pilot-P3573.aspx#Specifications

Amazon is allowing pre-orders now here: https://www.amazon.com/Remote-Pilot...&qid=1470859406&sr=8-1&keywords=uas+test+prep

Don't worry 145 &147 schools use these types of study guides as basic curriculum. The 147 school I went to would not sign me off to be tested until I scored 90% on the school's practice tests. The questions were part of chapter finals.

Here is another test prep (app) for $5 with all 300 questions:https://www.amazon.com/Aviation-Sup...&qid=1470859850&sr=8-3&keywords=uas+test+prep

I would recommend getting certification before classroom time is mandatory if your on the fence. These are not the only source. Hopefully others will post more!

Wake up! Time to fly!
That's for commercial UAS certification correct? Not hobby level pilots or did I miss something new in our "Just Us" systems shenanigans.

I'm assuming that this test will be similar to the HAM radio test where you can just memorize the questions over and over and pass the exam.

Yes, for commercial ops only!

offaxis- this is the complete pool of questions just like the ham so the questions can be studied.

Book of knowledge is free here: http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/media/pilot_handbook.pdf
There are a few CG and W&B questions from this manual: https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/media/FAA-H-8083-1.pdf
The FAA's manual directories: https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aviation/
https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/handbooks_manuals/aircraft/

The 8900.1 is how the FAA tells your local field office how to enforce the FARs. Here is what is says today: http://fsims.faa.gov/PICDetail.aspx?docId=N 8900.338
There will be updates soon to the 8900.

Does any one know if the "knowledge test" will be specific to remote pilot/drone operator questions or will it be the basics to all introductory flight?

Can anyone clarify on this? When signing up to take the knowledge test, do I have to specify which rating i'm testing for or is the test general and after passing I then complete and submit the sUAS rating application?

My apologies for not addressing this, one test covering basic knowledge nav & flight and sUAS specific ops questions. When you make your appointment, they will ask which test you are taking. Walk into the location you choose, they show you to a table with a computer on it, and take the test. The tests I have taken look exactly like the computerized practice tests (without the wrong answer notification). They will print out the results.

There are two testing companies:

http://www.lasergrade.com/

Take your paperwork, then go here: https://iacra.faa.gov/IACRA/Default.aspx
