So far it's going well, but if course I've run out of light gray filament so I can't print the 4th piece till the new reel arrives, hopefully Thursday.

Got the 4th piece printed and the tabs cut off the wooden pieces.

Got a good bit of time to fold/glue some foam board today. The fuselage is coming along nicely! I also have the three wing sections built but haven't glued them together yet since they're huge once built up.

I have the FC holder glued in place, along with a sidewall holder for the USB-C/buzzer board. Also made a small holder and lid for the GPS module since the last version the GPS was kinda unreachable once the plane was all glued up.

That looks awesome! Are those BDFs? Did you design those or download those? I have been thinking it would be neat to try and build a mini version of those! I am anxious to see how it flies for you.

Edit: nevermind, I read back a bit and see what you did.
Not sure how far you read back, I had made one in 2020 with the BDFs spinning 4" props, but had issues with the PLA I had used over heating and melting. I retired that airframe to my garage ceiling and when FT put these kits on sale last year I decided to try a little different motor setup. I too am very curious how she'll fly  But it will be a little bit till I get that far, with the cold weather and not spending a lot of time concentrated on building, just whenever I have some spare time.

As I had mentioned before, once I know it flies ok I will share all the 3D/STL files.

Sweet. Yeah, I think if I print a housing I will use PETG or ABS. I was also thinking about maybe doing a 2 piece set up with a metal center supported by PETG if worse comes to worse.

I was thinking about for a smaller motor, but If I can manufacture a larger one like that, I'll probably build one of bens fighters.

Still going back and forth on buying retractable gear or just doing the fixed wheels like my first version. But with the speed build kit being made for props in the wings I made up this nose call to glue on, the black for the right wing like the real acft. These pods aren't fully glued, thus the green tape, just put them together enough to fit check, these were the 4th revision of the curve.

With the fuselage and wing mostly together I had to get another pulley to hang out from the ceiling with my other one.

Fuselage is painted, well base layer at least.

And I got done 6" props that I cut down to fit these 5" ducts.

Next week I'll likely get the motor pods glued on and connected to the FC. Think I might do a throttle check to see how the motors do, will share for sure.

Got a few free minutes today and did a 6S throttle test...

**Duct STLs and pics uploaded to the Thingiverse link in my signature. Info in the description on that page.

Could you share the plywood too? Printing in PETG now! What are you using for motors? I have 2208 2300 kv in mine currently, but not sure they are 6s rated. Thank you for posting this!

The wooden pieces are the FT design that comes with the speed build kit. There are other people's 3D print designs in this thread, or on thingiverse, I forget which one I used on my first FTA-10.

I used some Strix Goblin 2208 2300kv motors on the last one and fried them using 6S. This time I got some 2207 1750kv 6S rated motors.

Got the new 3D printed cockpit glued in last night. Still need to add pieces of paper and foam to fill the gaps around and behind it, and then do the gray paint.

Is the FT a-10 on 3s a good second plane after the aeroscout?
The FT A-10 flies very stable thanks to the wing design. It is a large plane though so you need to consider that, for transport, storage and flying area.

I have no experience with the props on the wings version, but from everything Josh said about it in the orginal YT videos it seems like that might actually help it fly a little more friendly.

Found a retractable landing setup on Thingiverse and am going to try it out. Had to scale it up by 150%. Still working on figuring out exactly how I am going to get the main piece and servo mounted into the wheel pod to work best, but it's slowly coming along.

It might not work, but I can't justify spending the money for proper RC retractable gear for a foam board plane.
