Hey, have been contrmplating on building this ever since I first seen it but dont really have the money to get all new electronics. I have a rimfire 22m-1000 and a electrifly bl8 speed controller. Would this combo work or not? Sorry very new to scratch builds and still trying to learn all about motors/esc after switching from 4stroke. Any response will be greatly appreciated.

Have to pay my dues to the designers of this plane. Amazing, complicated and time consuming scratch build. Loving every second of the challenge. Be a few weeks before I can maiden at least. GT2218 motor on the way on the slow boat, i have to build the wings yet(ran out of glue sticks) and order more servos. With the wait on parts I may actually have a crack at painting those red bull colours on. I'll have enough time.
This is my fourth build total. Built a pietenpol, ez glider and a bushwacker before this. Really enjoying the lines and modular build. This is definitely my favourite build so far.

Looking good😁. Not got much further with my Edge yet. Got the motor through the post and fitted. Need to wait on RX, ES08MAii servos and an esc. With a wedding in a few weeks, every penny is a prisoner until after so I can order nothing yet😞.
Just have to content myself on getting the bushwacker and second build of the pietenpol(with ailerons) finished.

finally got the motor this afternoon. crash course to finish for tomorrow. just need to finish front cowl and toughen up the belly for landing. hopefully it balances without too much issue.

took everyones advice and reinforced the motor area. with this monster 3536-910kv it is an absolute necessity. i doubled the plate with foam and then built a balsa support frame for underneath.

while waiting today for the motor i took advantage and got all the small details covered, including the color scheme. i wasn't in the mood for paint, plus i didn't have a color i liked, so i went with vinyl decal paper and cut it all by hand. i was smart and saved the paper you peel off the canopy and used it as a template.

i am about to start on the final push to finish the front cowl and decorate it.

been a long day but i'm done.

gonna need some tail weight. the motor and 4S battery definitely work against the CG. don't think it will be bad but i'm out of tire weights so i wont know until tomorrow when i can steal some at the field. the flight instructor at the field is going to be maidening his Edge as well so should be a good day. be interesting to see diff between the 2 diff setups. this is his first FT build so i'm excited to see what he has come up with.

Anyone else encounter this issue? First thought was maybe the cowl geometry is off but it rests right on that former as it should... nothing blatantly stands out to me to account for the drastic offset.

yup. unfortunately that is one of the known issues with the edge. getting those 2 pieces to match is tricky. mine looks almost the same as yours.

I just scratch built a 125% edge this week and maidened it today. Fantastic flyer. Wanted a nice 3D aerobat that was easy to haul, as my 78” Extra 330 is a pain to get to the field. This is going to be a fun plane. I had the same issue with the hatch being taller than the cowl rear former. I figured there was some sort of issue in the scaling, but I did cut the scaled plans accurately. No biggie, I added a “hood ornament” to help cover the step up, lol. I wanted to make sure it flew well before I doll it up a little, but I’m not going nuts on the finish. It currently is just polyu’d to help the dtfb with moisture.

I have the same issue, my first canopy popped off at the bottom of a big loop this week and got blown away so I'm rebuilding today. Going to try and solve the bump issue and hopefully add magnets or some other attachment so this one doesn't pop off. It was a snug fit but the g-force at the bottom of the loop must have created just enough space for it to fly off.

Anyway, gluing now :)
