well I might be very late to this, but I designed a X-29 pain scheme a while ago and I'd love to see it in reality.

I know it's a rather complex one, but in my opinion the work would be worth it.

That's pretty cool! I did a similar scheme on my Goblin, so... who knows. :)

After the recent FT fiberglass how to video, I'm thinking of applying this to just the main wing. I've replaced the outer wing twice now due to bending on landing due to medium height stiff grass at the field. Any thoughts on how to keep this from happening?

If this keeps happening, I'm probably going to do the F-20 conversion I saw around here somewhere. Can't seem to find it right now.

I scratch built a FT X-29 with a 70mm EDF. (First photo)

I had to have a bigger one with retracts, flying canard, removable wing and rear elevator, so I blew up the plans and built one with a 90mm EDF. (Second and third photo)

See the rest of my story here. I've been flying it in Florida this winter quite a lot and really liking it...

FT X-29
Designer: Andres Lu

Release Date: September 18, 2017

Description:
The X-29 was developed by Grumman in the 1980s as an experimental aircraft to test new design technologies such as using forward-swept wings, full-flying canards and carbon fiber composite materials.
We have simplified some aspects of the plane to allow it to be constructed out of foam board and common materials while still retaining the sharp looks of the design. The aircraft’s unique flying characteristics such as its gentle stall have also been retained, but the inherent instability of the full-scale aircraft has been improved in our foam version.
Its relatively short, air foiled wing and long fuselage keeps the plane tracking straight in fast passes and allows it to slide into sharp turns while still having the locked-in feel. The speed and agility as well as its slightly more complex build means that it is a good fit for intermediate pilots and builders.
The FT X-29 can be flown with the Power Pack C motor in a pusher configuration, or it can be powered by a 64-70mm EDF, expanding the jet portion of the Flite Test speed build kit fleet.

So what happened to this and the rest of the master series EDFs?

The FT X-29 isn't a master series plane. I can check and see what the status of that kit is.
Yeah I know it's not a master series but when I look on the store there are no master series edf jet build kits for sale. Thanks for checking!
