Walksnail And HD Zero

Watched a video where the presenter took HD Zero goggles and installed a Walksnail module on them to take advantage of the higher frame rates that the HD Zero goggles support anyone have experience with this set up? Claims a better set up then DJI ( for latency ) or Walksnail with Walksnail goggles.

Picured above: 12" passenger screen. Walksnail VRX standalone RX. Walksnail Goggles x

Well the walksnail can do 100fps with some of the camera/transmitter setups. They reduce the resolution to get the framerate up. The goggles support up to100hz. whatever you are using for a display must support it, or you will end up with a blank screen. My 12" "passenger" display and my old Transformer goggles do not support that kind of refresh rate, so I can not demo it for passengers.

So basically they had the walksnail VRX module and hooked it to the HD zero goggles. I have the GogglesX and a VRX. So yeah, I have played with it a small amount. I prefer the higher resolution at 60hz though.

All of the Walksnail gear can do HDMI output. the GogglesX can also do HDMI input

Looking at the HD Zero websight, the BoxPro headset supports 100hz, but the Goggle 2 only supports 90Hz.

Do you already have HD Zero goggles? How old is the video and who did it?

There are actually three modes of walksnail operation:
1) normal (low) frame rate:1080p or 720p 60 hz
2) high frame rate: 720p 100hz high bandwidth (uses two fpv channels)
3) Race: 540p 100hz and lower latency (single fpv channel)
...

Did not pay much attention to the date, should of payed more attention I guess as fast as things change it could of been older. Was impressed with how little blurring was happening when flying fast and close proximity.

Am doing some fishing as thinking about going digital and is it really worth it over analog for me. Heck I can buy complete analog quads for less then just the camera system of digital.

Most of the videos out there doing such a setup are from two years-ish ago, and Caddx/walksnail has "race" mode now for better latency than what they had 2 years ago. I wish the built in DVRs on the goggles and VTXs recorded in the framerate and resolution that was being used. This would be better for comparing what the pilot actually sees in the goggles. I'm half tempted to get a HDMI recorder that will do just that with the output from the gogglesX / VRX. Of course, you still have to deal with yuutoob messing with the resolution and compression too....

Something to keep an eye on if you haven't gotten into HD FPV yet is Open IPC. It is not mainstream "yet" in my opinion, but it is getting better and has vendor support from EMAX now.
