This little toy-grade heli does most of the flying itself. The left stick is centred like on a drone. You don’t control the collective with it, you pull it down to ask the helicopter to adjust is collective and throttle to start a gentle descent.

My Blade 500X is much more scale. I have a switch to loosen the gyro on it where it’s easily weather-vaned in the wind and more sensitive to changes in collective. I don’t fly it much though ‘cause it’s scary. 😅

I hope to scratchbuild a heli one day. I’m thinking a nice high torque motor spinning thick blades of foamboard at a low RPM. Dowel or thin carbon tube might be employed to stiffen the foam, but the idea is should it crash into me, slower-spinning blades of mostly foam aren’t gonna decapitate me. 😂

Be careful, keep that heli away from you, saw a contestant lean over to slow and stop rotation of blades, wind blew and tipped blades onto his kneecap and broke it. Putting my heli into acrobatic mode, the rpms caused a wooden blade(carbon blades were not invented) to come loose, hit the other blade and totally destroyed the heli. Other accident, demo, person lost control of chopper, broken blade hit spectator and damage his eye.
Safety is of utmost important.

Took out the Wee Willy "Raw" this morning, finally got enough nose weight to settle her down and she flew fantastic, even with that tiny prop. Also flew M1 and M2, inverted the M2 for the first time since acquiring it a couple months back. Bigger does fly better, but crashes harder 😉

We have winds 19 gusting to.... high 20s, low 30s? What a great day to put an Aura 5 Lite in the Wonder Racer and see how it does. Well, how it did was fly forward and up because I had to be at almost full throttle to penetrate the wind. If I reduced throttle it would slowly come down but quickly go backwards. For most of the short flight I had full down elevator just to stay level. It finally got behind me and then behind trees and was gone! It is now the Sp0nz Wonder (where it is) Racer. One of the advantages to being surrounded by bare corn and bean fields is that there's not much for a wayward plane to hide behind. I found it about a mile away, upside down and with NO damage - go figure! Thanks for the sturdy plane, @SP0NZ
