What Did You Fly Today

Flew my AR wing and my brother Super Scout today! The AR wing had a very heart stopping moment when I was really giving her the beans on a high dive, I was reaching the bottom of the curve and hitting full speed when all of a sudden, everything just "blew apart"!

Turns out that I never fixed the very front nose part from bumping into the van the other day and air was getting blown into there, and it must have gotten to the point where there was so much air blowing into there that it made the top hatch blow off....which whipped the whole plane back really hard and my battery wasn't strapped down so it pulled the receiver and ESC out with it leaving the plane just floating around in mid air and landed right down on the edge of the road..
Thankfully there wasn't a bit of damage and I could have put everything back together and flown in again!😁 (Though I wanted to fix that front nose part first so I decided to late for another day.)

So then my brother and I decided to take his long built Super Scout for its maiden! For the maiden have were going to have a water bottle "bomb" aboard and it was running a 3548 1100kv motor with a 14x6 prop, with a 6500mah 4s battery. So I was going to take it for its maiden flight as I have been flying more lately and have more practice, but the ground is covered in hard packed snow...But there are footprints about 6in deep where people have walk so taxiing doesn't work so well!😂😂 So we decided that he would just hand launch it and it took off great! (NO lack of power!😁)

It was a touch tail heavy but as soon as I would drop the water bottle it would balance out nicely. So we spent about 30mins just loading in bombs, taking it up and dropping them! (I LOVE that plane!) then for the last bit, I decided to just have some fun with it and did some vertical hovering, low 'n slow ect! Great plane, great job FT! (@Mr Man, you should try cranking up the rates on your XL Scout and try some 3D! (Just be cafeful about folding the wings like I did on my last one😂😂))
So I looked at my AR wing the other day. Most of the stickers had pealed back just like someone else had said here on the forums. Oh well. I stand corrected! They are junk stickers.

I've yeeted batteries on more than one occasion... but never the whole electronics package!:ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:

I work in a mid to high-end independent bicycle store. It is a real :poop:show with all the cheap things that people bring in wanting us to fix their junk. Unfortunately, there is a bunch of really really bad stuff out there. We turn away a lot of junk. people also complain that we charge more for a complete tune up / build than they spent for their junk online. There are plenty true accounts of what happens with cheap stuff with no or bad BMS (battery management systems). A bike store up in Amish country completely burned to the ground near here after they left things charging over night.
You know, I see the ads all the time, and always wondered how good those are, but figured "you get what you pay for." This just confirms that bro!

I guess it depends on how much bike riding you do too.

Maybe a little off topic, but....
I know Amish use battery power tools. Do they use e-bikes or scooters?

Amish here cannot use rubber tires only steel wheels, many use the old skates with the metal wheels that slip over your shoes, I have seen skate boards the kids have converted to metal wheels from old skates..

Around here the Amish and Mennonites use e-bikes. Depends on the community.
Here there are hardcore old-order Amish. Even the zero turn mower has steel wheels. Horses and bicycles. Fire and brimstone. No ebikes for sure. The Mennonites are as fancy and lavish as anyone. They have a good smooth running auction house. Down the road from that I get the best price anywhere on all my horticultural supplies.

Before I buy the engine, I figured I test all my airplane models. I made three of them and it flies about 15 yards and straight. So I won’t waste my money on just buying an engine for one that flops. Test it first.

Thanks for having me.

The video I got it from. “Your face scares me, but cool.”

Test flight. Free flight, no RC or batteries. Trying this glider out. Throw it off a cliff top and it should come back on land. According to the video I’m watching they call this a high glide ratio. Height of the lift or starting point x Lift/Drag (ratio) = distance traveled. So if I throw it off a high cliff that distance is lengthened and the glider should come back to land top. On top of the cliff side. Maximum distance traveled.
