Years ago I was at the field when a guy took off with a nice Ultimate. This was when there were still some holdouts flying on 72mhz.

A little while later he starts yelling WHO'S ON 14??

We look over and his plane is spiraling down out of control. He keeps screaming WHO'S ON 14 over and over, getting louder and louder and his voice getting higher and higher until it cracked right about the time the plane disappeared from view and into the ground. Then once more with the saddest look and probably tears in his eyes he spun around to the peanut gallery and yelled WHOOOOO'S ON FOURTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN 🥺

I felt bad for laughing so hard because he probably loved that plane. But I managed to hold it until he was gone.

Nobody else was on 14.

Now any time someone loses link at the field I yell WHO'S ON 14 lol

I'm a bad person 💀

Radios were significantly less reliable back then... sometimes you'd just have a loss of control with no idea why. Made flying your favorite plane that you spent hundreds of hours building and covering much more of an adventure.

(not me I just bought arfs and swap meet junk 🤣)

Air was dead calm this morning. 0645. Flew my Tiny Tutor. Even got a perfect landing. Pic on hood with early morning sun after flying. No new damage! 😁

More of the same this morning. My landings aren't awful anymore, but more often than not the little airplane noses over onto its back.

My LZ is rough dirt that was bladed by a front loader when they cleaned up. So, not terrible, but definitely not glass smooth like the geotex when I'm able to fly at the club.

If I can rig a hat mount for my phone, I'll get some video. But suggestions welcome.

Oh dear.... what have I gone and done now???

When you are comfortable flying your heli, you should build or purchase an RC auto gyro and try that. My winter project was to build OTTO gyro where I decided to incorporate flapping hinges and being able to track blades using a box fan.

Cost me $4.87 and repaired it 4 times before I quit with auto gyros. Lots of info over on RCGroups.
