at 31% ;)

this was a quick test print to match to actual plans scaled to this size. i was a little off on my measurements so glad i did it. this is the front of 2 pieces. the rear piece needs to hold the actual motors so it is still in design. plan is for 2 x emax 1106's w 2.5" props.

laters,

me

This is certainly my largest print, so far. ;)
PodPylon1.JPG

It is actually printed 5 pieces and glued together. Done this way primarily to give each part a flat surface to print from.
The ESC sits inside the leading edge of the pylon with a cooling air front inlet and exhausts either side. The Rx sits in the rear fuselage with the battery fills the nose.
A little heavier than the previous reinforced Depron structure but it probably has better aerodynamics and is certainly strong enough for belly landings and take offs from grass without damage.

I Like it! Can we see more pictures please?

Four weeks ago all I can do was a simple cube. Hard to do complex stuff with Thinkercad but it is the only tool in my box.
I've found Tinkercad super useful. Not tried to design anything more complex than simple small right angle squares and such but it is super useful for modifying imported designs. I've printed several items that were too large for my printer and used Tinkercad to slice them up into sizes it can take or scale items to fit.

These are the main parts.
The battery box in forward fuselage. It holds a 3000 mAh 3s, just!
BattBox2.JPG

The actual nose cone is a separate print and is glued on.
The rear fuselage which holds the rx and hold the 'fishing pole' tail boom.
PodRear1.JPG

The battery and aileron servo wires go up through the hole.
The pylon glued to the wing 'saddle', which also doubles as the motor mount, showing the ESC suspended inside.
ESCpylon.JPG

The complete plane.
19May18.JPG

All the flying surfaces are built in a conventional way but in 3 mm sheet Depron with a balsa/Depron/balsa spar.
With reasonable gliding aerodynamics and over 250W/lb available at the rarely used full power it can climb fast.;)
I hope this helps.
