Help! What is needed for VTOL

Hey guys, I'm thinking of making the Bronco VTOL. What is needed? I already know I need 3 motors, 3 props, 3 esc's and Probably two batteries, but what else? Do I need a Flight Controller? I am using a Spektrum Dc6 and Spektrum receiver with Gyro and Ax3x.

I would highly recommend a flight controller that could run Ardupilot. Something like the Speedybee f405 wing, Matek F405 wing, or Matek F405-VTOL. You will need a spektrum Satellite reciever since flight controllers these days do not like pwm or ppm input. One battery of the proper size should do. You will also need at least two extra sevos to pivot the front motors, three if you wish to pivot the third/rear motor. And you will also need a way to pivot the motors. You will most likely need a GPS with Compass for flying in hover.

More than likely, you will want a radio with more than 6 channels. 6 is the bare minimum.
ch1 throttle
ch2 aileron
ch3 elevator
ch4 Rudder
Ch5 arming
ch6 Flight mode

You will need plenty of patience and willingness to research/learn along with repair skills for when things don't go as planned.

Ok. I think I’ll hold off on VTOL for a while Lol.

If you want to go the DIY route and don't want to learn ArduPilot, check out dRehmFlight VTOL: https://github.com/nickrehm/dRehmFlight

It's a build-your-own flight controller from a Teensy 4.0 and 6-axis gyro module. It can read PWM or SBUS inputs and control any combination of servos and motors. Nick has used it to build a number of projects. It's not an autonomous system, but a flight stabilization controller. Nick floats around this forum, or you can check out the main thread at RCGroups: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/sho...OL-Teensy-Flight-Controller-and-Stabilization
