What motor/ESCs do you recommend for ball ripping FPV quad racing/freestyling fun?

FPV quads have changed my life. I started with a Versacopter 2.0 with MT2204 2300KV 12A simonK ESCs, and rebuilded my quad on a Reptile Martian 255 frame am looking for the one and done (for now) upgrade for my motors and ESCs.

I drool over videos of guys like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM30UJa1PMo ) tearing up the skies and I feel my motors/ESCs are holding me back.

Im trying to stay around 2300kv for better torque on tight courses, so I have been looking at:

Motors
Lumenier RX2206-11 2350KV
-or-
EMAX RS2205 2300KV

Next ESCs, I assume I will need to go up in amp, would I need 24A or 20A? Everyone only seems to be talking about KISS ESCs, are they really that good
ESC
KISS 24A

Wake up! Time to fly!
I'm in the process of upgrading my Versa to be a bit better set up for 4s as we speak. There are some things you might want to consider before undertaking the same endeavor. First and foremost those guys you see doing all that crazy stuff are using seriously lighter quads then the Versa. It is a great platform for sure but it is a tad on the heavy side for all the trixies that can be done. I'm not saying it cant be done as I am starting to get to where I can make mine do some of those things. I just got it to do flips and rolls and into a reasonably stable condition to do even more.

The weight is more the problem seeming to hold you back then the motors or esc's although 12a is a tad on the small side specially for the standard 4s romps that these guys are making their videos with.

I'm still flying 3s on my versa while I have been tuning and such after upgrading the esc's to 30 amps because the Versa is so heavy and I want to jump up to 4s with no power or heat issues. Like any other quad they can be agile and quick enough for freestyle if you set t up correctly. Here's a thread I am doing on my rebuild and where the quad is at currently http://forum.flitetest.com/showthread.php?27058-Start-of-my-Versa-rebuild-for-more-power Hopefully that will give you an idea what you may be up against.

Well I did ditch the Versacopter frame and went to a 3mm Reptile Martian 255m (Alien 5" knock off)

Talk about perfect timing, Psyborg....

That versa looks pretty dang acrobatic.

Bromgo, the kiss ESCs are very nice assuming you can find some in stock. I assume you're planning on running a ~2300kv motor with 5" props, correct? Here's some bench test comparisons of escs on a Cobra 2300kv with 5040s: http://www.miniquadtestbench.com/cobra-2300kv-hqprop-5x4-gf.html

XRotors seem to be doing well. I've been looking at the DYS XM20As.

I would certainly not consider myself an expert on miniquads, but I can say out of experienced that I have been blown away by the quality and performance of the Luminier Skitzo Ed. motors (probably about equivalent to the luminier motors you listed) and the KISS 24A ESCs.

If there is one thing that I have learned over the past nightmarish months trying to get my miniquad running is that DO NOT SKIMP ON ESCs! There are so many crappy ones out there and the KISS 24As are not that! If you are trying to find them, check the Rotor Riot store for them, they seem to do a pretty good job keeping up with stalking them. http://store.rotorriot.com/flyduino-kiss-24a-esc/
