Hey all,
strange problem. crashed my quad today. i thought everything was fine, only a few repairs. repaired it, but when i arm it, one of the damaged motors jitters and spins the prop visibly slow. while it is "jitter spinning", if i turn the props cone by hand, itll spin normally. so if i give it a boost, it spins normally. but if i fly with it, which i tried, over grass, very low, the motor did fail. but it flew fine for oh, 10 seconds? then the motor gave out mid air and started spaz spinning again. if i take off the prop it spins up what looks like fine. whats wrong? esc or motor? Help please! Thank you!

Sounds like one of the 3 motor wires is working only intermittently. Check you cables. The problem could also be in the wire where it's soldered to the ESC (so inside the ESC) or at the motor itself, where the windings begin (spaghetti :p )

but the thing is, i used throttle cut and min throttle to allow me to flip a switch and get 5% throttle ish. and id turn it on, but the thing is, i thought that was the issue, and i would move the wires and connections around. at all points. i bent them, moved them, nothing. it only responded to me physically spinning the motor with my hand. it DOES make a strange sound when spun by hand, off. opened it up, looking but no obvious signs of anything, will look closer... any other ideas? thanks!

AH HA! mystery solved. upon very close examination, a couple of the tiny wires coming out of one of the main wires has been severed. its clear and obvious now, and im quite sure its the cause of the problem. i just wanted to make sure that if i went out and bought a motor and realized it was an esc problem. it was not! i will be ordering a new motor now! :D
