Where do you find small parts?

So I do a lot of scratch building and usually just use left over parts from previous builds. I know where to find motors, esc's, props and servos easily. But what I can't find are the small stuff like prop adapters, wire for landing gear/servos, motor mounts and small screws and nuts. Currently I need replacement canopy screws for a Strix Stratosurfer. They a M3x40/50mm. Lowes only goes down to M4 size. Found them online but the prices are stupid and then shipping on top is just a straight up crime. Anyone know where to find smaller parts locally?

I normally just buy that stuff off amazon…. Though control rod wires are cheaper at menards (hardware store, definitely not online)

Though don't search for 'airplane control rods" unless you don't like bending Z bends...They really rip you off compared to if you just buy a pack of metal rods like this: https://amzn.to/44gEAFR (Though I feel like these are a bit softer than if you bought airplane control rods)

Ace Hardware might have it... (as well as paint and Minwax for your planes!) Otherwise SpeedyFPV has pretty good prices and there shipping is only like 2 bucks if its light!

Hobby shops often carry all that kind of stuff. If I had a hobby shop locally I would support it, but for me the closest hobby shop is 70 miles away.

Amazon works well for me, the free shipping from Prime makes all of the difference. Ebay also has some good deals.

Prior to the tariffs, I bough lots of stuff from AilExpress & Banggood. They were dirt cheep but it took 3-4 weeks for my stuff to arrive. I quickly learned to keep an inventory of stuff. When I got low I would reorder, so the wait was no big deal.

I'm not sure how the tariffs work. Anyone have experience, is there a minimum tariff? Is there a $80 minimum on a $5 item?

Yeah, I have a couple assortment kits I bought from there and have never regretted it! (I got it for like $8, where as the same one would have been like 15-25 on amazon!)

Try ReadyMade RC directly. They often have replacement parts like the ones you want.

They have a pretty good selection of hardware

I am south of Miami FL and the hobby shops here are about 20 miles away. Most are complete rip offs. Online is sooo much cheaper if I can find the parts. Amazon is getting too expensive too.

I think one of the best options is ReadyMadeRC. They have the exact bolt set you are looking for and tons of other hardware at reasonable prices.

You could use musical instrument string or guitar string for push rods, or even old hangers.
