Which Setup? Ideas?

Hi guys,

I was a noob a few months ago, now I am...moving out of the noob zone, but a few months ago, I purchased a JXF 13x8 prop from HobbyKing, I thought it would just fit onto my EDF outrunner but it didnt, so, now is when I have decided to ask some questions:
Which motor should I get? Which ESC for the Motor? Which shaft adapter and spinner will I need? Which battery (I *prefer* 3S or below). Preferable, the item should be from hobbyking for $$$$ and I'd love something cheap but quality though.

Thanks in advance!

There is no where near enough information in your question.
Give us an idea of what you are trying to accomplish.

The questions you asked will have very specific answers depending on what you are trying to do.

JUst....like that

Look, I know I might not have anything specific but...
- I want to get the prop on a motor and get above 400 grams of thrust...depending on the thrust, I'll build my model.

Now, I just have a prop and dont know what to do with it...do I need a shaft adapter? which motor is best....

400 grams of thrust. Is it really a suitable propeller?
Reviews says .70 - .75 ASP FS. That is more like +2000 grams of thrust.
A plane with a weigt of 3-4 kg (6-8 lbs) should fit that size of engine.
There are electric with same power - is that what you are aiming for?

Listen, I want to use that propeller ON an ELECTRIC MOTOR, I need atleast 400 grams but I prefer about 1.5KG of thrust. I just dont know what to do with the prop now

Crazy flyer/crasher :D
Hey Hamdhan,

you usually don´t build a plane because you have a spare propeller!

You build a plane maybe if you have a spare set of motor and ESC.

If you say that you were a noob a few months ago do you mean that you have been flying since then or were you just reading on forums and getting some knowledge. Sometimes you are still a "noob" if you have not flown a rc plane before.

You won´t be able to controll a 3-4kg plane especially if it is your first plane.

We also need some informations about what plane you want to build.

If I were you, I´d go for a Bixler and have fun with that and gete the basics of flying if you haven´t ever flown before. And even if you have a 3-4kg plane will be whole different experience in term of flying.

The propeller you have will fit very nice in a 40-class trainer.
But you have to realize that propellers are something that brakes.
I am normally ordering 5 of each to be sure not to be grounded because of something grabbing the wheel when landing. Every plane is "nosing over" sometime for different reasons. (Warbirds and racers are "always" nosing over when landing on grass.)

his was the first motor i saw - 12*8 given 38A on 3 cells - seems to give a little more with your propeller.
The shaft is 6 mm so you will need something like http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5674

As a speed controller my favorite is http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__2166__TURNIGY_Plush_60amp_Speed_Controller.html but if you dont have the programmer for TGY then go for something cheap like http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__16892__Hobby_King_60A_ESC_4A_UBEC.html

Y
ou will not regret to choose a battery with some class over the cheapest possible.

Good luck choosing a nice plane for this.
