I think it would pair awesome with a mini-quad to fly around the house

EDIT: Found the app on the appstore

Yeah, I saw that too - but my guess is it has slow reaction times (lag) or is hard to control.

I'm probably going to get this. I'm note sure where or how I would use this but controlling servos with my iPhone sounds like a pretty neat idea!

Um, wifi is just a 2.4Ghz system. Shouldn't be any more lag than a normal tx, which is virtually none. The cool part of this is the interface with Android...

That depends... Even on the local network I get lag on my Wi-Fi. Depends on if the data is sent in true (TCP/IP) packets or in a stream... If they are using Wi-Fi then it's not a steady stream. Normal transmitters I think operate on 2.4 GHz using streaming data.

all data on WIFI has lots of packets that are for verifications so there is lots of "wasted data" instead of real traffic.

There is an app (for iphone, not sure about android) that will do the same thing, but output a ppm signal so you can plug it onto your Tx. There is a free version that has 4 axis, one joystick and 2 accelerometer. Its called flypad.

Got this today no app in App Store to operate it!

Lame act! Falsely advertised. HobbyKing sold me a product that is incomplete and not useable as advertised. Anyone want to make a quality IOS app for this?

It is not the packet nature of the communication or the handshaking used in the medium but rather the bi-directional communication on a simplex medium which is shared with as many users as are in range of the AP. Co-sited users on the same AP are the real concern for communication reliability.

Hmmm. Thread is pretty old. Probably old hardware that they no longer support.
