I am trying to build my first V-tail but I have not been R/C world for a long time ... But I picked up a LP5DSM transmitter today and was wondering could I use this for my V-tail and what kind of receiver will work with this transmitter ??
Sorry about the stupid question but my last radio was a crystal type radio..

Yes, it should work. Here's a thread about how you can make it work properly.

If all else fails, you can do the mixing in the plane using a V-Tail mixer - they are very small and cheap.

On second thoughts, I just realised you are talking about a v-tail multirotor rather than a v-tail plane. So it won't matter, you shouldn't need to do any mixing in the radio, the control board will do this for you. All you need is 4-5 channels of normal radio control, from a compatible receiver.
