It's been about 5 or 6 years since I've built or flown, and I'm getting the itch again. When I stopped flying I was mainly flying large-scale planes, 1/4 and 1/3 scale. It was a lot of work and required plenty of gear for the gas engines, and I'm not sure if I ever want to go big like that again. Over the last month I've been flying some foam and balsa park-flyers and enjoying it, so maybe I'll stick with that and electric power just to keep life easy. The Kadet Senior may be about as big as I want to go.
So as mentioned in the title of this post, I'm also picking up building again, and decided to kick it off with a small/easy kit from Willy Nillies, the Ace Littlest Stick. There are a few choices in my stash, but the classic Stick is hard to beat for simplicity. About half of my WN kits are betas, hopefully they haven't changed too much for the final designs.
Breaking the seal on the package, there's no turning back now! The quality of the laser cutting is fantastic, and I only needed the knife to remove a few bits of the light ply formers, and the balsa parts almost fell out from looking at them too hard!
I'm not building for speed on this kit, which is good since all of my glue is completely dried up! An order for Titebond II, some CA, servos and other electronics is being put together, and I've obviously got all the other building materials from previous work. In the picture below the fuselage is just being held together by the friction-fit of the parts, no adhesives yet. I'm impressed with the design so far!
