I don't see anyone else on the forums that's opened their Falcon kit yet, so let me help ya'll out with some inspiration :D

If you didn't buy one yet, you can get one over here ==> Willy Nillie's Falcon 250

And yes, I did say twin! Why you might ask? Well, because I am tired of this little quad thing sitting around for two years gathering dust without a single flight since the maiden day. And I think a pair of 1104 4000kv motors would do just fine on one of these 250 gram kits :D I'll be twinning the Skylark with the other two motors from this quad too! :D

So let's start building! First I'm setting aside all of the parts I recognize as "wing stuff", which leaves some things that are obviously fuselage shaped. Since the formers are numbered I'm pretty confident I've got this much going together right!

Time to put the other side on and use some right angles to keep things aligned nicely.

Now here's a great example of why I like to use slow drying glue instead of CA - as I was looking at this and wondering why the things I thought were braces stuck up to far I realized they also didn't have cut out for the stringers and there was a much better looking piece to use there! So I swapped them in before the glue dried :D

Time for a dinner break, and to see if there are landing gear patterns to print out.

Thanks guys - if anyone finds a source for ultra cheap quads in clearance sales please share - the one I'm using only cost $90 new 2 years ago and has enough parts for two twin engine motor and ESC. We might be able to find some real cheap deals...

Back on the Falcon, time to add the stringers

And the front sheeting sections. This picture also shows where I installed the front firewall backwards. I did this on purpose because I wanted to install the landing gear after I put the fuselage together, but if someone is building a single motor falcon it needs to be the other way around.

Here I'm taking a scrap of the fuselage knockout and adding it to the hatch lid for extra strength and to lip.

I used the TLAR method to make up the landing gear.
IMG_20200331_162809 (Medium).jpg

Clamped and hanging up so the epoxy doesn't run down the legs...

And she sits pretty well! A little final bendy when the wheels are on that it'll be good.

Time to make some wings.

And a second wing half.
IMG_20200331_183323 (Medium).jpg

Glued together with some dihedral and a pair of the 1104 motors hanging off it for sizing.

I think I like that spacing, but I either need to find some different color props or get ready for some wacky paint job!

So let's try to mock up some nacelle short ribs using the remainder sprue as a template

They fit ok.

Hmm... looks interesting, but that center rib is right in the way of the esc - and if I made those short ribs with square front ends I could use it for the motor mount too... I think I'll move it over and square it off.. that way I can keep the ESC right next to the motor and not need to rewire that part.

Heck yeah. Reason I say so is I had my Eaglet sitting next to my Kadet and noticed they're actually really similar airplanes, just the Eaglet is about a quarter of the size. And people have kitbashed Kadets into Skymasters before...

OMG! I have an early Kadet MK II kit that I've been wondering what to do with for the longest time. Guess I'll have to go looking for a thread with the pictured build.

Oh, this is looking SO cool already! (y)
