They fit the 1104 motors perfectly. Stock screws all line up and she looks good! I just need to extend the ESC wires a touch.

Future idea for these mounts would be a hole through the bottom of the tank where ESC wires can be snuck through.

Time to put the sheeting on the bottom of the wing since I have the main wires installed.
IMG_20200407_151848_copy_1024x768.jpg

And next step of the nacelle mark 2 is to use some of the scrap balsa sprue from where the ribs came out to make the initial mount.

Once I'm sure that will hold a decently straight thrust angle I'll add some side cheeks to box it all in for covering.

Well aren't these the cutest things ever!
Those will look great. The Willy Nillies glow engine motor mounts are awesome! I had a bunch of guys looking at the Eaglet 250 and it took a couple of minutes before one of them figured out it wasn't a real Cox .020. It makes these kits really stand out from the rest.

That itty bitty motor/"engine" combo is amazing. Dadgummit! Now I'm thinking again about making Eaglet 250 #2 a twin. How about a link to those tiny 1104 motors your using with KV rating? I already have a nacelle design that I just size up or down to fit whatever plane I use them on. I think I can shrink it this small if I have to. I'm REALLY looking forward to your finished project!

I ripped these motors out of a cheap quad I got from a Banggood sale a couple years ago, so they were not purpose chosen for this experiment. :D Sticker says 1104 400kv and 3s capable - here's a link to the quad they came out of https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?2912423-GB90-A-Unique-Brushless-Micro-FPV-Racer

Here's the nacelles - one finished, one in progress. Action shots below trying to get them aligned just right.

IMG_20200407_164946_copy_1024x768.jpg

Took a little sanding (wrapped some 220 grit around the leading edge sheeting and rubbed it into shape).
IMG_20200407_162046_copy_1024x768.jpg IMG_20200407_163816_copy_1024x1365.jpg IMG_20200407_172822_copy_1024x768.jpg

Just a smidge of down thrust...
IMG_20200407_174445_copy_1024x768.jpg

Yeah, these are going to do allright. :D
IMG_20200407_174409_copy_1024x768.jpg

Now I've got to find my fine tip soldering iron and put new leads on the esc's

IMG_20200407_175543_copy_1024x768.jpg

I also had one of the motor wires snap out due to handling already. grrrrrr... now I need to come up with a project for just 1 of these motors or buy another one https://www.readytoflyquads.com/rtf1104-brushless-micro-motors-kv4000

Edit: motor purchased and some different props to try too.

Wow, that stinks that the wire pulled out. Did it look like a weak point?

Just a tiny wire on a $10 motor - if those little joints get worked back and forth too many times they will split. I've had it happen on Blue Wonder motors and receiver antenna too. On the antenna I like to protect them with a blob of hot glue, but I haven't figured out how to protect motors from this yet.

We will be stocking 1104 motors, props and esc's very soon. They are on their way, just haven't arrived yet. 😁

The newest Pee Wee motor mounts are getting the colored treatment also. Look for possibly a Black Widow and OS .10 and maybe some other very cool ones soon! :)

There sure are a lot of people watching your build Jon! Keep up the great work!

Sincerely,
Doug and Becky

That's great news about you carrying the 1104's. Will you have different KV versions? The 7500kv looks like a hot rod.

I do the hot glue globs on my receiver antennas also.

It's a quad with four motors. Why not use one of the other motors? You only need two. Swap two motor wires to change the rotation direction.

I am using one of the other motors for the Falcon 250 Twin so I can keep buiding. But I've also got a Willy Nillie's Skylark 250 kit that's going to become a twin too so I needed all four motors working! :D

I hope you are successful repairing the broken wire. I am pretty good at soldering tiny stuff but my attempts to fix the same issue with larger 1806 motors have not worked. I get them to run but for some reason they always stutter when starting to spin up. If you get it fixed I really want to see how you did it.

Man those 010 motor mounts look cool mounted up!

A 1104 4000kv motor on 2s puts out about 75-80g thrust with a 3x1.8 prop and 100g on a 4x2.5 prop. I didn't test the 3" prop on 3s but I can, it was under 2Amps on 2s. The pic is 4x2.5 on 2s. View attachment 164903

Thanks! If you wouldn't mind testing the 3" prop on 3s that would be great - either 2s or 3s is my planned configuration for this build.

Let's figure this out... ESC tucked inside the wing leading edge to be near the motors. Will make sure we have a hole for ventillation.
IMG_20200408_180500_copy_1024x768.jpg

And nacelles fitted into place and BEC & battery wiring all set. That's a lot of wires to tidy up somewhere...
IMG_20200408_190046_copy_1024x768.jpg

Here's the battery I want to use in here - 3s450
IMG_20200408_211352_copy_1024x768.jpg
So I had to do a little surgery to get it to fit. Depending on weight I might need to find something smaller, but these are already in the workshop.
IMG_20200408_211339_copy_1024x768.jpg

But there's not a lot of space to put the wiring an receiver into if I want to keep the back of the fuselage nice and clear (and wires out of the way of the servos). So I think I'm going to try and shoe-horn the receiver into the wing.
IMG_20200408_211403_copy_1024x768.jpg

But before we get to that, it's time for more airplane noises! Don't think I'm going to have tail-heavy problems on this one. :D

That's a lotsa wire! My Jr. Skylark was cramped enough with just one motor. I can't imagine fitting two. That's why I'm watching you figure it all out before I try. ;)

Joe
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Yeah, there will be some trimming of wires to make this all fit. In hindsight, and in the Skylark, I'm going to flip the servo tray around so they are closer to the tail to give me some more room. Of course that assumes I'm right that I'm going to be nose heavy in this configuration...
