Winter Quad

Nice build Andre. Wish I could join you in winterizing my quad, but there's no snow here yet in Massachusetts :( Are you planning on adding a hull and ducts around the rotors like the Heli Carrier? I guess then it would no longer be an ugly quad. What kind of thrust do those motors generate with 11" props? I'm not sure how much you are concerned with weight.

Those are 2830-11 1000KV motors running a 10" prop but might try some 11"

The goal is yet to run some cowls around the props.

If this does not work out due to weight I'll make a tank like quad and have some fun.

We shall see.

i'd say, go for the heli carrier! i think the idea is so cool! what about adding 2 motors in the middle to add lift? just an idea...

Out of motors and ESC other wise I would ;)

Building over the weekend but should be able to go flying this weekend in some decent temperatures/conditions.

Well completely redid the frame.

Much better.

So the lesson here is simple.

Light and clean frame wins every time.

Next phase is to add cargo, lights and fpv.

I will need some extra tall landing gear mind you.

Also need to decide if the booms should be shorter.

Right now they stick out 16" so there is a fair bit of sweep there.

Means no running through trees for sure ;)

Still not happy with the gear but today the quad would not fly outside with the camera on board.
I suspect snow/ice build up in the motors and high winds.

More to come.

Parts Come In

My son has been waiting on the Candy Dropper for a long time.

A few weeks ago HK had it on sale so we bought one.
I also picked up KK Hard Case so the Mini KK can go back on the 250.

Well last time I had it out in the real cold conditions one of the cans actually froze up.

But I went for my 3KM walk in -33C this afternoon.

Installed the KK HC with 1.19SPro.

I can finally do the tweaking I've been wanting to do ;)

BOOM

So James and I were out having some fun in rather high wind with the Winter Quad.

We managed a good drop sequence. I mean who does not love the sound of a kid laughing.

Then on the 2nd run we put the quad up high and wanted some forward momentum for a better drop.

Thats when the quad tossed a prop.
