X-29 Build - Swept forward in the fun

Small update from my side. I didn’t have a night shift yesterday after all cause I traded it for my wife’s afternoon shift so she could go with the kids and her mom to the pool. I do have the night shift tonight and hope to get some work done on this build.

We’ll see how it goes...

Had the pieces to start all laid out, but then a anonying vet that we work with at work decided he would try to blame us for not being responsive his phone to take a mission from us about a stray dog that someone must have lost. That's when I lost it and got into fight back mode, we'll have to wait till 11am to find out how this unfolds though, updates later.

So not promising anything this time, I might start the build some time :censored:

Forward swept wings are something that has interested me for a while! I'm happy to see two builders and pilots who's experience and input I value very highly taking on this project(y). I will explore this area of forward swept wing planes once I get my bearings with ailerons and possibly elevons, so I'll be relying on your building and flying experiences here, as two pilots approaching FSW for the first time(?)

I finally got the chance to do this, get swept into the fun and start my build! This is where I currently am, actually more like where I had to stop because I didn’t have servos with me.

I also made a small modification to the wings and cut a wide slot for the servo wires to go through. As I tend to strip servos quite a lot I want to be able to replace them.

If all goes well then there will be more tonight :)...

Airframe complete, just need to add the pushrods.
Overall, this has not been one of my favourite builds. Apart from making two big mistakes and having to recover from them the wing profile seems thinner than the cutout in the body leaving a gap that's going to be difficult to hide.

The thrust tube is a right pain too but in the end, I'm pretty happy with the result. The EDF - wow! That thing is super powerful and I have no doubt that on 6S this thing will be fast!!!!!!
Oh yes, better buy a 6S battery for it. I'm going to work out the weight needed to balance on the CofG and then choose an appropriate battery size from there.

Great job you two! I saw a couple flying at FF, a lot bigger in person than I thought they were.

We’ve decided the SR was over weight and under powered. So I might have to pick up a couple of those 12 blade EDFs myself!

Yes, it's quite imposing in person.
Balances with a battery in the range 500-600g so a 3300MaH 6S 60C is about 560g - perfect! £45 - ouch!!!!!! That will have to wait till payday. So that gives me time to tart it up!!!:LOL::LOL:
Even on 4S this plane happily pushes itself along the carpeted floor!

Oh dear, the plane fell off the cupboard and the right wing now has some stress folds in the top surface. It won't stop it flying but after seeing that damage from only a small impact I want to add some extra stiffness to the wing. 6mm carbon tubing will be added to assist the foam spar in each wing.
