Wing is closed. I started experimenting with the flaps today. Build a little mock-up of the wing to do that. The set-up generally works as you can see from the attached pictures.

What does not work so great is that the first flap creates quite a large step when lowering the flaps.

Does anybody of you has an idea how to solve this? The one thing that comes to mind is that I could cut the upper part of the flap a bit further back (maybe 2 cm or so). Any thoughts?

Installed the servos over the weekend. Also figured out on how to install the wing. I will first fully complete the wing and will then mount the wing in the fuse. I guess by end of next weekend we can probably do our first self powered roll test.

So today was actually the second maiden attempt. On the first try a few months ago she did not take-off. It looked like she wanted to go into the grass. Apparently the angle of attack for the wing was negative which pushed her to the ground rather than getting lift. Simple solution to this was to make the front landing gear a few centimeters higher. First thought about getting a new landing gear with bigger wheels or a longer leg but both would have meant to rework the whole set up. So instead removed the installed landing gear and added a few layers of balsa/ply underneath so that I got my extra centimeters.

For take-off today I gave light flaps. Wind was not ideal with only little wind but rather from the back. It took a bit of runway until she was fast enough for the elevator to become effective. She took off very gratuitously.

Needed no trimming. I kept the flaps out when she was up. So this will be something to experiment for the next time.

The EDFs suck up a lot of juice. Both 4s 3000 packs where at 51% when I brought her in after about a minute of flight time (I flew her rather fast).

Oh boy, I was really worried whether she will fly and this was just great.
