A step by step guide on how you too can fly from the cockpit of your favorite RC jet fighter/warbird using head tracking FPV with a collimating reflector sight /HUD - for precise attitude reference.

A motivational aerobatic flight above fog layer to simulate cloud surfing in a Zeus 90mm EDF jet - looks like a F-20 Tigershark

The nitty gritty details including budget, components to buy, detailed camera/pan and tilt install, head tracker transmitter setup and software to change settings…

Old school setup. No flight controller, no gyro. Just flying the plane as is to experience its true character!:D

That looks like a heck of a lot of fun with the head tracking. My hardest problem for me flying FPV is depth perception, it throws me off some no matter what I fly FPV quad or plane.

True! Like any newly acquired skill. It does take some time to get used to it. My first few times flying with the goggles, I felt nauseous after a few minutes. But after about a dozen flights, I don’t feel it anymore. It’s a bit like full scale flight training that way to overcome motion sickness. Even the legendary air show pilot - the best stick and rudder pilot ever - Bob Hoover also had to overcome airsickness when he first learned to fly.

I asked a spotter to call out altitude on the first few landing approaches to help me gauge when to flare for landing. I was able to land without the call outs after a few flights.
