This has always worked well for me. Just bend one of the end pins out just a little bit.

A "loose" connector to a receiver is a crash waiting to happen.
As suggested improving the 'quality' of the connection is vital to avoid creating an intermittent connection.
The connectors on a receiver should be noticeably tight to put on and take off.
