if your still learning to fly, I would recommend the Tiny Trainer. In my signature is a link to a 'getting start cheaply' breakdown based on the tiny trainer.

If there is a local flying club, I would check them out and see if someone there is willing to teach you how to fly, as it will make learning to fly much easier. A second option would be to get a simulator, so you can get your crashes out in a simulator, were starting over is a press of a button instead of repairing your craft.

I would not recommend any war bird as a first plane. Save the war bird for your 2-3rd plane. War birds tend to be fast. While learning to fly, you need a slower plane. This will give you more time to react before impact with the ground.
