Yeah, I'm really blown away by the interest in something that was just meant to be silly fun. I can honestly say I am so thrilled that the Gotha has inspired a literal swarm of building at the 11th hour. I love building these airplanes and its a real treat to be involved in something like this. I will not take credit here. This has all been from the community. I'll say it again, it was never my intention to have this mass swarm of airplanes at first light!

Loved Josh's Gotha from the word GO! He is one of my favorite builders. A true artist.
So here we stand two months after Josh first proposed the idea of escorts or a Dawn Patrol with a potential 50+ Baby Barons/Brits ready for action!
This. Will. Be. Epic! :applause:

I took a good look at this one the other day. Needed a quick dusting from being in the shop when I was doing some extensive sanding on Mike's Ripper. Lines still look taught for the most part. A few small hot glue touch ups on some seams but nothing major. I am going to take the FRSky Rx from my Jug and put it in this one for the event, as my current DSM2 Rx may cause issues with the crowded band. I do not think I will have too much issue on my next flight with this one as the servo that was replaced was for the rudder and should not require re-trimming.

I did look around for some sort of model (paper) for the parabellum guns... no luck. I did find some full on models of the guns at 1:12 scale, but at $33 EACH, nope, not gonna spend more on two guns than what I spent on the entire airframe... TIMES TWO! Since we seem to have lost steam on the squadron logo, She will fly as-is. I'm OK with that. I like how she looks.

Not a model of just the guns, but this Gotha card model looks pretty detailed and includes them

I have an account with fiddlersgreen as well but their model doesn't look nearly as detailed. I'm a bit fan of stealing stuff from card models.

Yeah, I looked at that. I was trying to find something free. I've only got about $40 invested in this airplane so spending $ on guns seems a bit silly.

Completely agree. If you really think she's missing them I'm certain you could bash something up out of coffee stirrers and balsa that would look the part, especially when she's up

It's a possibility. Right now I'm enjoying a bit of a break from building and just slowly prepping my models for FTFF.

Yeah, With the mad rush of the development of the Ripper and the Gotha and then the mad push on the J-22, all within a couple of months, I've gotten a bit burned out. Happened after the S-39 build at FTFF last year.

Fly yes... land no.

Just teasing.

I've still not done my BB

With all this spare time on my hands, I am thinking about adding a little more detail. I want to add some cockpit details, but nothing fancy. I contacted Rasterize to see if he can help a bit.

If you're interested, let me know when you plan on flying the Gotha again at FMAC, and I'll see if I can stop by with my Baby Brit for some practice escorts. :)

No plans to fly her until FTFF. She is easy to fly but I do not want to risk any damage until the event. She is fragile and the trip to OH may take a toll and I'll have to do repairs there but lets hope not.

That said, my fleet is grounded until the event, with exception of the mini mustang and my DLG. The mustang because I really don't care, and the DLG because I need more practice! I've cleaned them all up and done minor fixes to them and I want them looking their best for an event.

Makes sense. Hope she makes the drive to OH without any damage!

I think you have an extra "not" in there? I'm considering building an extra Baby Brit airframe to have in case something happens to the current one. Then I could just swap out the electronics and be ready to go again. Anyways, I hope to see the Gotha flying in person soon!

I thought that was a good idea too - now have 2 Barons and 2 Brits ready to load up, and fixing up a mess of spare power pods this week too. :)

No worries, we are going to have a Flite Fest Europe too! Not sure if you are allowed to attend though, since you are not going to be part of the EU anymore... :p

Too soon? :)
