A4b - The V-2 with wings

Having built a JB2 Loon (US copy of the V-1) I thought I would have a go at a V-2 but as a 'vertical riser'
Right at the end of WWII the allied invasion put London beyond the range of the V-2 launch sites. Von Braun suggested a V-2 with wings would be able to glide and extend the range. 2 were actually flown in March 1945 (one failed at launch, the other broke up at peak altitude).
Built in a similar way to the V-1 but in thinner 2 mm Depron to kept the weight down and a bigger 70 mm EDF right at the tail with 4 inlet ducts between the fins. It is 60" (1520 mm) tall.

Like the V-1 the battery (1800 mAh 4s) is right in the nose along with the 4 servo to compensate. It has a 3 axis gyro at the CofG.
The EDF is only rated for 3s but it has long (over 1 m) wires from the ESC to the so there is a bit of voltage drop and full power will only be applied for a few seconds.
Sitting on its launch stand.

Not surprising any wind blows it over!
It has to land like an ordinary plane.
It works!
At take off the motor torque swamps the effect of the gyro but once at speed it flies very well and is perfectly controllable with the gyro off.
It has a 2:1 thrust to weight at launch which 'canes' the battery a bit but it can fly about at a low throttle for quite a long period.
Of course it has absolutely no crash resistance.
