Futaba Helicopter vs Airplane mode with Multirotors

I was led to believe that all multi rotors should be programmed into Futaba Transmitters in Airplane mode.

I took delivery of a TBS Disco Pro today (beautiful piece of equipment), along with a Futaba T8J transmitter. This had been pre-programmed for the Disco, and the settings are in Helicopter mode.

Can anyone explain the difference between Airplane mode and Helicopter mode in relation to multi rotors?

Short answer is curves. Either mode will work just fine but with heli mode you can program in throttle curves to soften around hover like expo does on your throws. Expo only allows for a balanced curve with center stick being center of the curve. Programming a throttle curve allows you to specify where in the stick position that softness, or center of that curve comes into play.
