thought i would share a hatch/turtle deck i made for the mini mustang.
i tried the formers and posterboard for the hatch and was underwhelmed with my results .
so i tried making one from some polystyrene i had laying around, some packing tape and a gift card .
taking measurements from the plan and the resultant foamboard /posterboard build of the hatch, the styrene was cut carved and sanded .
when i was happy with the shape, it was covered with packing/wing covering tape and i added a magnet to fix it to the fuselage .
i was not convinced the magnet was going to be enough to hold the hatch at speed ,so i cut a piece from a gift card and hot glued that in place where the original had the foam board hold down .
i am quite pleased with the way it turned out ...it worked out a little lighter than the original :
and i think it will be as robust as the original ,time will tell !!
