Battery help

Recently purchased a imax b6 charger for my 7.4v, 2 cell, 2200mah battery. I was wondering what amps I should use to charge it and what voltage to charge it to? (People have said 8.4v but don’t know if that is true) any help kindly appreciated.

Use the lipo balance charge setting on your charger. It will automatically charge to 8.4v, which is the correct voltage for a 2s lipo.

For amps, the most conservative and safe setting is 1c, which means the same as the amp hour capacity of your battery, or 2.2 in your case. I use that when charging at home. Most lipos are safe to charge at 2c, or 2x the capacity, so 4.4 amps in your case. I use that when charging at the field. Some battery manufacturers specify a higher acceptable charging rate. I have at least one battery that specifies up to 5c, although I just do 2c for everything.

+1 on 1C charging.

FYI, it's good practice to let your batteries rest for a minimum of 15 minutes after a flight before charging. And another 15 minutes rest after charging before a flight.
