Best way to power the Micro MinimOSD?

I'm adding an on-screen display to my 250 miniquad. The micro minimosd states that it needs 500mA at 5V to power it and warns that most ESCs can't supply this much current through their BEC. I'm using the 12A AfroESC and the specs for these claim they can supply up to 500mA on the BEC. Does anyone have any experience powering the micro minimosd directly from their ESCs? If this won't work, what is the best way to provide power? The ordinary minimosd will convert the 12V from a 3S battery, but the micro version of this board doesn't have the DC-DC conversion circuit, so I need a 5V supply. I'm using the Naze32 fligt controller, if that makes any difference. I'd be very grateful for any thoughts!

The usual method would be to use a separate UBEC with say, a 600mA-1A rating, but you could probably make do with a buck converter for the same ratings. The only problem would be that the buck converter may introduce more noise than say, a linear BEC.
