working on Bushwhacker. Looking forward to STOL characteristics. Never flown with flaperons so that should be interesting

Great looking plane

With flaps or flaperons, I recommend getting the plane 150-200 feet high, slowing down, then try the flaps. Flaps often cause the plane to pitch, it best to try them while high enough to correct for any pitching. I usually create a mix to correct this flaps to elevator. You never know how much to mix until you fly the plane.

Not an original idea. Read a post on facebook FT group with method to replace rubber bands for top wing mount. Couple of tabs on the back and 'sticks' up front. I used a piece of metal instead of skewer to secure front wing. And secured that with landing gear collars. Seems very secure and I love getting rid of the rubber band look

You could try a 3/8-1/2” plywood spacer between the firewall and the motor mount. You will also need longer mounting bolts.

Very cool wing mounting idea.

i designed and 3D printer a fake engine with a blower to stick up front that i could hide a few ounces of lead in to make my CG. i have since gone with a larger brushless motor and that solved the problem of CG.

me

Maiden flight went great. Other than landing gear just not being quite strong enough. I expected this one to be real sensitive so dialed rates down to 60% with 30% expo for first few flights. That worked out perfectly for me. First time I have used flaperons and mixed them with some down elevator and that also worked out great. Even at full 'flaps', with 25% down elevator there was very little pitch up at all. https://vimeo.com/454858759

Was still having problems getting c.g. correct even with pushing battery as far forward as cowling would allow. Cut out an 'air scoop' on bottom that allows the battery to position right up to the firewall. Got it dialed in now.
