Fly LOW - How to build an RC hovercraft - Video

Hi all, lately i've been playing with hovercraft, and i thought i'd share the fun and do something that would give anyone the ability to build a high performance hovercraft hull easily, so i did a how-to build video for anyone interested in flying low.

Here's an example of how a skirtless craft performs on grass.

This design as i built it hovers clear of the ground by about an inch or so completely, there's no skirt, just a small airdam made of duct tap around the edge. This will fly easily over hard surfaces, water, grass, gravel, and is easier to build than most planes.

I built from 1" EPS but you can even more easily build one out of dollar foam, just score the walls out from a single sheet and use a fold the same way you do FT fuselages Then a flat sheet with a few spacers for the bottom hull.

I've got to admit, i love RC hovercraft, it's even more fun than planes for me now, but there seems to be so little information, activity, or even interest in them. I hope that this video can serve to get more people involved in such an easy, inexpensive, and fun way to enjoy the hobby.

The double hull is the "secret" to success, if you understand the principle, and it's simple to understand, you can build craft from nearly anything in many other configurations using the same techniques.

Here's a few videos of some of my craft i've been building and flying.

So, i hope this would inspire some of you to get going on your own hovercraft builds, i'd love to see what others would come up with in terms of perfomance hovercraft, and improving the design, but the scene just seems dead.

Anyone up for some low flying fun? This is THE best bang for the buck in the hobby that i've found yet!

Ground effect vehicles float on air just like hovercrafts except they ram air in the front and the air builds pressure underneath the wings and float. This is similar to a multirotor within 6-10 inches off the ground when it feels "floaty" because of the way they "fly" they're extremely efficient.
